In a tranquil Cape Cod neighborhood steps from the Atlantic Ocean, youโll find a casual beach resort with comforts of home. Here, a footpath perfumed by beach roses and gentle seagrass invites you to a private beach. Adirondack and lounge chairs wait beside the fixings for a campfire on the beach. Youโll take in panoramic views of Nantucket Sound and Monomoy National Wildlife Preserve. Sound good? Welcome to Chatham Tides where I spent a restorative waterfront weekend in Chatham, Massachusetts.
A Casual Resort on the Water in Chatham (Cape Cod), Massachusetts
Along with Brewster and Harwich, Chatham is part of the “Lower Cape.” Cape Cod is shaped a bit like an arm and Chatham Tides is near the “elbow.” Located off Route 124 in a residential neighborhood between downtown Chatham and Harwich Port, Chatham Tides offers beachfront and waterview guest rooms, suites, and townhouses.
I had the pleasure of staying in a two-bedroom suite at Chatham Tides Inn. Room #7 above the reception office proved to be my second story Cape Cod getaway.
This waterfront weekend in Chatham gave me an opportunity to explore the southeastern tip of Cape Cod and meet up with girlfriends (we call ourselves “The Bunco Babes”) at a family cottage in Harwich Port; I seized the opportunity to combine work and pleasure.

Enjoy Suite Water Views
A private sundeck with table and chairs and a lounge chair made for a welcoming entry. I anticipated having morning coffee here overlooking the ocean beyond the rooftop, and also had a birdseye view of the grounds. Slipping my key in the door, I called Chatham Tides home for the weekend.
Itโs hard not to appreciate the ocean views from this room. Bright light pours into the Ocean View Two-Bedroom Suite at Chatham Tides through a wall of windows reaching the cathedral ceiling. (Oh, that view!)
The suite has an open floor plan awash with natural light.
It is cozy but suitable for a small family or hosting visitors, furnished with a couch, coffee table, seagrass wingback, flat screen television, and plenty of beach-themed pillows. A bay window overlooks the sundeck. Soft hues and beach decor offer a soothing vibe throughout, befitting this seaside retreat.
Discover Every Kitchen Convenience
A spotless kitchenette is well stocked with dishes, glassware, a corkscrew, cutlery, pots and pans, oven mitts, sponges, and soap. The counters hold a stainless steel sink and the essential single-serve coffee maker.
Since I am a coffee addict, I took inventory: four coffee pods–two bold and two decafs, raw sugar & stevia, and non-dairy creamers with spare supplies in the drawer. Score! (I left a note for housekeeping to refill with only bold pods the next morning and they generously obliged.)
An efficiency refrigerator and 4-burner stove complete space. In addition, as someone concerned with ecology, it pleased me to find the kitchen outfitted with both trash and recycling containers. Yay for being an eco-conscientious hotel!
Most of all, I loved the kitchen bar arrangement.
A sea-blue counter runs along the kitchenette overlooking the water then curves into an โLโ for dining space with bar chairs. This, I assessed, is the perfect arrangement for writing.
So, I set up my laptop and enjoyed morning work with panoramic views of the sea, asking myself, โHow does it get better than this view?โ
I enjoyed watching Cape Cod wildlife as I worked: tenacious seagulls dropping shells on the rocks, agile terns dive-bombing the waves for fish, and the occasional seal–a bobbing head above water.
Across Nantucket Sound, I spied Monomoy Wildlife Refuge and added it to my bucket list for this waterfront weekend in Chatham.
Get Cozy with Luxury Linens
Two bedrooms flank the living room. Each a charming and cozy space, they featured the most comfortable beds fitted with white comforters and luxury bedding, an extra set of full-size and decorative pillows, and a fluffy mattress pad. I slept soundly overnight in the silent suite…Like a baby!
The large closets offer ample hanging space and also hold a chest of drawers and an iron/ironing board. Extra amenities include bedside charging units for my iPhone–perfect!
Make Eco-Conscious Bath Choices
The bathroom, off the living room, held travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. Their scent was fresh and light, like the ocean nearby.
The bathroom could use a little update, but it’s really clean.
Plenty of towels and facecloths hung in a pleasing arrangement. I was given the eco-conscious option to hang my damp towels rather than send them to laundry each day. The shower had good water pressure.
I noticed while showering, I could see views of the ocean through the bathroom window. In fact, in just about every room, I caught glimpses of the waterfront as a reminder of Chatham Tides’ incredible location.
Several thermostats control the interior climate.
I prefer fresh air so I opened windows and ran the overhead fan, capitalizing on the breeze coming in off the ocean. And truly, what is more peaceful than ocean air anad the sound of waves upon the shore?
Be Surrounded by Beautiful Grounds
Outside, well-manicured grounds surround Chatham Tides‘ reception area with beach roses, hydrangeas, daylilies, and colorful annuals.
Vacation Steps from the Beach
A sandy path leads to the shoreline of Chatham Tidesโ private beach.
Had the weather been warmer, Iโd have gladly taken a refreshing swim. That didn’t stop me from enjoying my waterfront weekend in Chatham. Instead, I walked along the jetty and collected some shells. The water was crystal clear!
An outdoor shower and spigot allow for easy cleanup after a day at the beach.
Take Home Souvenirs & More
On my way back to my room, I checked out the self-serve gift shop next to the office. It contains sundries and souvenirs, including cute t-shirts. (I wish I bought one!)
There’s also a vending machine with drinks and snacks.
My nearby explorations included Harwich Port’s and Downtown Chatham’s boutiques and unique shops, Chatham Lighthouse, and Monomoy National Wildlife Preserve.
Final Thoughts on My Waterfront Weekend in Chatham
I enjoyed photographing pristine sandbars and picturesque rowboats and spotting seals off the coast. And of course, I loved hanging out with my Bunco Babes in Harwich Port.
I covered a lot of ground, and Chatham Tides was an ideal base for my waterfront weekend in Chatham.
While I stayed in the Ocean View Two-Bedroom Suite, Chatham Tides also offers efficiency rooms, an oceanfront townhouse, and even a rental home on the water’s edge. You’ll find casual beachside comfort suited to solo travelers, couples, and families alike. For more information and rates, visit ChathamTides.com.

These are wonderful views! Never been to Chatham but it looks relaxing and gorgeous.
I’ve yet to visit Cape Cod when I’m in the US and now I want to see it just so I can stay here at Chatham Tides! It looks so peaceful, and you’re right about the cozy bedrooms too. It’s truly a place I could see myself spending a long weekend.
I absolutely would love to stay at this charming beautiful location!!! Iโm saving this to my travel pins!!
Chatham Tides Inn seems like the perfect place to stay at. Plus, having the beach so nearby is a huge plus. I fell in love with this place!
Chatham Tides looks like an incredible place to stay. The decor and vibe to the place is so relaxing and serene. It looks like a dream destination indeed.
What a fabulous escape to a wonderful location. Such a beautiful spot with a lovely beach and water. This would be a great place for anyone to enjoy a weekend. The hotel itself looks just perfect and I like the cleanliness and attention to the garden beds. Just a perfect getaway.
Such breathtaking views, wow! Cape Cod is such a beautiful place. Very descriptive post, all the photos are so amazing. That beach looks so relaxing, the place you stayed looks so lovely.
Looks like an incredible place to escape reality for a weekend. Views all around. I like that the grounds are well taken care of. We would also open the windows and listen to the ocean all day instead of the AC.
This looks like the perfect place for a relaxing weekend trip. So close to the beach – and the accommodations looks like from some movie – very cool and minimalistic. I love the pillow with the sand dollar – adds so nicely to the ‘by the shore’ feel.
I must say I did enjoy the pictures of the beach, and also being a coffee addict myself the part that caught my eye was the well-stocked kitchenette. There is nothing better than drinking freshly brewed coffee in the early hours of the morning overlooking the sea! All in all a great review, and great pictures.
