1. Walt Disney World Resort

disney for couples | Enjoy Travel Life

Disney World in Orlando, Florida is where it all began.

Itโ€™s the original theme park and offers incredible experiences that you and your partner can share.

It truly belongs on your travel bucket list for couples!

Don’t worry, itโ€™s not all about the amusement park thrills (which are very fun), but the themes as well. You’ll enjoy shows galore, plenty of individual theme parks, amazing hotels, and opportunities to go golfing or boating.

One of my favorite things to do at Disney is simply to float gently in a tube along the crystal clear water parks. It’s such a soothing experience!

Walt Disney World Resort is enormous and exciting, so you’ll always find something going on you can do together

It’s even just fun to walk around and see the place in action. But here are a few of the most romantic things to do at Disney:

  • Plan a romantic dinner at Victoria and Alberts, a 5 diamond, award-winning restaurant in the luxurious Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
  • Take romantic strolls through the most charming places in the world at Epcot. While there, enjoying delicious world foods and drinks, you can kiss under the Eiffel Tower (Paris), at the Trevi Fountain (Rome), or in the Cherry Blossom Gardens (China)โ€”all in a single day!
  • Get a couple’s massage at any of Disney World’s six five star spas, like the Dolphin Hotel
  • Book a charter cruise with private dining and enjoy a romantic dinner under the stars and fireworks

Florence, Italy

If youโ€™re looking for something more traditional, youโ€™ll want to check out the Italian city of Florence.

This unique place is probably the most romantic and friendliest city on Earth right now (sorry Paris), owing to its beautiful food and the sheer number of friendly people who throng its streets.

There are so many things to do and see in this enchanting city. You might like to do some of the most romantic things for couples in Florence, like:

  • Take a walk on the ancient Ponte Vecchio bridge and window-shop fine jewelry
  • Climb to the top of the Duomo, the largest cathedral in the middle of the town, to enjoy a dreamy view of the city
  • Tour historic Florence in a horse-drawn carriage, or fiaccherai. This traditional Florentine horse and carriage leaves from Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Signoria daily, and will navigate you through hidden laneways of the city.
  • Enjoy a chamber music performance, opera, ballet, or a modern dance show at the theatre, like Teatro Goldini, near Pitti Palace
  • Dine on incredible food, drink, and ambiance just about wherever you find yourself in Florence

It goes without saying, there are plenty of romantic places in Italy you’ll want to visit as a couple.

Bahamas

If you are looking for somewhere with sun and sand, then consider the Bahamas, which are just a few hundred miles off the coast of Florida. It’s a great addition to your travel bucket list for couples.

Note that you may need a fiancรฉ visa or other visa extension if you plan on spending longer than a month in the Bahamas.

The Bahamian islands offer great spas and restaurants and, if you have the budget for it, you can even rent an entire island to yourselves with boats bringing your supplies from the mainland. (How romantic!)

In fact, you’ll find a great range of experiences, from the bustling city of Nassau and Paradise Island, to the tranquil, pink-sand beaches in the Bahamas Out Islands.

Some of the most romantic things you can do in the Bahamas include:

  • Enjoy a tasty rum punch while you relax on the sugar sand beaches.
  • Swim in the warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Ocean (with dolphins or pigs, if you like!)
  • Kayak through the mangroves, where you’ll see marine life, like turtles, rays, and tropical fish
  • Go sailing or take a glass-bottomed boat tour
  • Enjoy local culinary delights, like conch fritters, conch salad, baked grouper, and rock lobsters.

Patagonia

Patagonia is a vast expense of South America replete with mountain landscapes, glaciers and stunning high-altitude lakes.

Youโ€™ll need to be fit to make your way around, but if you can handle the elevation, the spectacular views you’ll see are totally worth it.

Patagonia stretches across many national parks, including Mount Fitzroy, El Chalten, and Torres del Paine.

You have several options for getting to Patagonia. Older couples tend to fly, while younger ones get to it on Ruta 40.

However you arrive, here are some of the most romantic things you might like to do in Patagonia as a couple:

  • Take a surreal walk together on the Poreto Morena Glacier
  • Practice yoga or meditation together, or take a full-on couple’s retreat surrounded by the natural beauty of the environment
  • Indulge in sampling Bariloche’s famous chocolate
  • Glimpse the majesty of southern right whales from land at Playa El Doradillo

Hoi An, Vietnam

hoi an vietnam bucket list couples | Enjoy Travel Life

Hoi An is probably the best-kept secret in all of southeast Asia.

This attractive little city looks a bit like Venice and it is perfect for couples on a budget. The town isnโ€™t too big or too small.

That makes it an excellent addition to your travel bucket list for couples!

And it’s close to a river lined with stunning lanterns that come alive in the evenings.

You can take boat tours of the area and then pull into the river bank when you see a restaurant that you like.

  • Take a cyclo ride through Hoi An’s Old Town at night
  • Ride a beautifully lit lantern boat down the river
  • Enjoy cocktails at one of the many city cafes and bars
  • Dine at the popular restaurant, Mango Rooms while overlooking the river from the balcony
  • Purchase lanterns from local vendors and then put them in the river and make a wish. What is more romantic than that?

  1. I’d pass on Disney (I absolutely hate it with a passion b/c of the crowds!). However, I totally love all of the others, especially Florence. It’s such a gorgeous, historic city and is much more my style.

    • My niece goes to Disney every year with her hubby for their anniversary. It’s perfect for some but not all! (And I especially love Florence, too.)

  2. It’s a very inspirational post and varied ideas for a romantic getaway for couples. Depending on their interests, lovers can choose a place to suit their needs. I have been to Florence and Patagonia, and I can confirm that they are great places for a vacation for two. One is delightful with the richness of architecture and culture, the other is nature. From your list, I choose the Bahamas as my romantic destination!

    • That’s a great choice, Agnes! Glad you’ve experienced a couple of these romantic destinations for yourself and can attest to their charm. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I have only been to two of these destinations and I can confirm that they are indeed very romantic. I have actually travelled to Florence with my significant other and had a great time. Having wine at night, at a tiny cafe by the river was pretty romantic. I have travelled to Hoi An by myself but I can see why it’s also a very romantic destination. The old town of Hoi An is incredibly beautiful and, at night, lightning up candles and letting them float on the river is peaceful and romantic.

    • Sounds like you’ve got this romantic travel thing mastered, Joanna. Loved hearing about your experiences – great inspiration!

  4. I have been to Florence in this list, truly a romantic place to get lost! The idea of floating in a tube along the crystal clear water parks of Disney sounds great to me. I would love to visit other places too, particularly Bahamas, which is in the other side of the world for me. Kayaking through mangroves and see the flourishing marine life would be a great photo opportunity for me.

    • I think you would enjoy those experiences, too, Indrani – especially the Bahamas. I’ve kayaked through the mangroves and you never know what kind of wildlife you will see, below you in the water, overhead, or along the shores. Have your camera ready! It’s definitely a trip for your bucket list!

    • These are some fabulous bucket list destinations for couples in love. I have been to Disney land in California, but looks like one in Florida is amazing too. And of course glass bottom boat ride in Bahamas would be a fun thing to do. And exploring the snowclad peaks of Patagonia and the architecture of Florence, Italy would be great too!

      • Disneyland is California is fun, too – I’ve been to both! Glad you enjoyed this selection of destinations for your couples bucket list.

  5. This definitely had something for every taste. I would maybe prefer to explore Bahamas or Italy but all the others are also interesting. I can’t wait to be able to travel as a couple at some point again as for a longer time now we have been traveling with kids.

    • I love Bahamas and Italy, too, Paula. Empty-nesting is definitely fun when it comes to travel, but of course, it’s bittersweet without the kids, as well.

  6. All of theses destinations seem to be excellent places for a romantic couple holiday. My personal favorite would be Florence. We have been there several times and keep returning.

  7. I would love to visit Florence again and also Patagonia for the first time which really looks amazing. I plan on visiting Italy next year and it has been over 30 years since I last visited so this would be amazing.

    • I’m so excited for you to finally get back to Italy! I have to admit, it tops my list for a return visit, too. Enjoy!
