1. Inn on the Sound
Location: Falmouth, Massachusetts
Best Feature: Stunning Water Views
If you dream of waking up with your special someone in luxury surroundings to expansive views of the deep blue Atlantic Ocean, The Inn on the Sound is for you.
Each of the 12 rooms of this historic oceanfront inn in Falmouth are light, bright, and airy with a relaxed-casual vibe. If it weren’t for the beautiful turned railings and a few other period touches, you might not know this well-renovated space was built 1872.
You’ll enjoy stunning water views from one of several guest rooms as well as from the common areas and deck on the bluff. A handful of select rooms offer private balconies, too.
This gem of an inn located on the winding ocean drive of Grand Avenue in Falmouth is within walking distance of the Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. The Inn on the Sound is also steps from Falmouth Heights Beach and convenient to Falmouth’s vibrant downtown, which offers excellent dining options, ice cream, and lots of downtown shops to browse.
But with views like those at the inn, you two may just want to indulge in a generous, complimentary breakfast on your private balcony, or order curbside pick-up from a local restaurant (we recommend Lobster Quesadilla’s from Anejo Mexican Bistro). You can dine while overlooking the sunset over the calm waters of Vineyard Sound.

A night at The Belfry Inn & Bistro is a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t soon forget. Whether you’re looking for a couples overnight down the Cape or celebrating a special occasion, your stay here will be memorable.
The inn itself is a repurposed Abbey, complete with gorgeous stained glass and gothic arches. Creatively outfitted with chic decor throughout, the guest rooms in the Abbey are spacious and well-appointed. Some rooms include large soaking tubs big enough for two.
In the “Tuesday” room where we stayed, light streams through the enormous stained glass round (shown on the front of the building), which creates an incredibly dramatic effect in the room.
To make your stay even more memorable, you might choose to pair it with a romance & spa package, which includes:
- a champagne arrival
- a sensual massage

- gourmet breakfast for two
Or, go for something more adventurous, like the Cape Cod Island Hopping Special, which includes fine dining and a gourmet breakfast, plus round-trip ferry tickets to Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard.
In addition to the six guest chambers at the Abbey, this top-rated bed and breakfast also offers accommodations at two adjascent properties:

Even if you’re not staying overnight down the Cape, you’ll get a flavor of this property’s appeal by dining at the Belfry Bistro. This upscale restaurant is open to the public and serves Contemporary American cuisine in a seasonally evolving menu using local ingredients. (Spoiler alert: It’s fabulous.)
