The Mandarin Oriental Boston is hosting an array of Holiday Happenings in Boston that appeals to all ages. The festivities celebrate the season true to the hotel’s legendary hospitality, refined taste, and culinary excellence.

Having recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Boston, I have to admit, I am not surprised by these unforgettable offerings. In Mandarin Oriental’s signature style, each promises to cultivate the holiday spirit and make memories like none other.

1. Holiday Dining

Dining at the award-winning Bar Boulud Boston is always a culinary treat, but it’s extra special during the holidays. Bar Boulud, is a French-inspired bistro and wine bar from internationally acclaimed chef Daniel Boulud.

On Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day, you’ll find exquisite three-course prix fixe menus and a Christmas breakfast buffet, each suited to the occasion:

  • Thanksgiving – Three-Course Prix Fixe Menu, November 28 from 12noon to 9 pm
  • Christmas Eve – Three-Course Prix Fixe Dinner Menu, December 24 from 5 pm to 10 pm
  • Christmas Day Buffet Brunch – December 25 from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Christmas Day – Three-Course Prix Fixe Dinner Menu, December 25 from 5 pm to 10 pm

Wine pairings are optional. A children’s a la carte menu is available throughout the holiday season.

2. Santa’s Workshop Holiday Tea

From November 30th to December 30th, Santa’s Workshop Holiday Tea takes place daily (1-5 pm) in the Lobby Lounge of the Mandarin Oriental Boston.

This festive family event in the Lobby Lounge of the Mandarin Oriental Boston is for young and old alike. Children enjoy crafts and singalongs while parents savor champagne, aromatic teas, savory bites, and sweet treats. A children’s tea menu is available.

On Saturdays, Santa Claus joins in on the fun, offering picture-perfect family photo opportunities.

Guests who bring a toy or game to donate to Mandarin Oriental Boston’s charity partner, Franciscan Children’s, enjoy a decadent chocolate fountain bar in addition to Afternoon Tea.

3. Silent Night

On Wednesday, Dec 11th from 5 pm to 5:45 pm, the spa at Mandarin Oriental Boston hosts the annual Silent Night, providing participants a reprieve from the holiday madness.

Set within Massachusetts’ only holistic Five-Star awarded spa, this digital detox/retreat includes a complimentary journalling or intention setting workshop. It concludes with a silent Reiki experience within the specially created wellness sanctuary.

4. Roederer Champagne Dinner

The Roederer Champagne Dinner event includes a festive four-course menu paired with Louis Roederer champagns. You’ll be sipping on bubbly alongside Bar Boulud Sommelier Jaimie Puckett, Louis Roederer Ambassador Devin McGarry and Bar Boulud Executive Chef Ethan Koelbel. Dinner begins at 7 pm.

New Years at Mandarin Oriental Boston & Bar Boulud

Founded in France in 1776 and synonymous with the world’s great Champagnes, Louis Roederer remains today as one of the only still independent and family-run maisons de champagne.

5. Festive Family Dessert Decorating

All ages are welcome to learn from Executive Pastry Chef Ryan Pike in holiday baking classes offered in November and December:

  • Children’s Holiday Pie Decorating Classes – November 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 1 pm to 2 pm
  • Family Bûche de Noël Decorating Classes – December 7, 14 and 21 from 1 pm to 2 pm

Participants will receive a complimentary apron and mixing spoon to take home along with their tasty baked treats.

6. Holiday Feasts to Go

Want to enjoy scrumptious holiday dinners at home but leave the cooking to the experts? The talented culinary team led by Executive Banquet Chef Robert Angelo Jr. prepare Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts will all the trimmings.

The best news is it’s ready for your curbside pickup. Options include a Whole Roasted Turkey, Honey Glazed Ham, or Prime Beef Rib Eye with delicious sides for 4-6.

7. New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner

You can enjoy a five-course Prix Fixe Menu with optional wine pairings on New Year’s Eve at the award-winning Bar Boulud Boston. The New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner has two seatings:

  • 1st Seating: 5-7 pm
  • 2nd Seating: 7-10 pm

From the bite-sized appetizers, through the main courses, and right down to the indulgent desserts, this incredible Menu de la Saint-Sylvestre is sure to please.

8. New Year’s Eve Lobby Party

Ring in the New Year in style at Mandarin Oriental Boston’s Lobby, transformed for a night of glitz and glamor. Guests dance the night away to the music of two of Boston’s top DJs, The DiMare Brothers.

All guests will receive a glass of champagne and a party favor upon arrival. A Midnight Snack Buffet will be served.

You can choose from three ticket options:

  • Silver – Access to Lobby Party
  • Gold – Five-Course Prix Fixe Dinner at Bar Boulud and access to Lobby Party
  • Platinum 4, Platinum 6 and Platinum 8 – Access to Lobby Party, reserved table seating for 4, 6 or 8 respectively, one party snack bento box at the table and one bottle of champagne. Bottle service available.

9. Holiday Packages

Holiday packages at Mandarin Oriental Boston are available during November and December. You’ll experience 5-star hospitality in Boston’s chic Back Bay through the holidays, close to shopping and holiday attractions. You can choose from three holiday packages, including:

  • Home for the Holidays – Valet parking and dining credit
  • Wellness During the Holidays – Private meditation and Digital Wellness Escape Treatment
  • New Year’s Eve Getaway – Overnight accommodations, the Lobby Party, and Breakfast in bed on New Years Day

Beginning on November 30th, the hotel will be cheerfully decorated with many opportunities for festive photos.

  1. Great post Jackie. Reading about Northern hemisphere holiday celebrations always makes me homesick. Though I really can’t complain about celebrating the holidays on Sydney’s beaches 🙂 I absolutely love the ‘Silent Night’ idea, that’s truly brilliant as so many of us get burnt out at this time of year. I’m also partial to a traditional high tea so ‘Santa’s Workshop Holiday Tea’ sounds lovely too.

  2. okay….you have sold me on this hotel! I just wish that I could come over the holidays, you have made it sound so yummy. I will be in Boston for sure in 2020 and will definitely look at staying at the Mandarin Oriental!
